Dmitry Shostakovich. Christoph von Dohnányi, Cleveland Orchestra. Musique Funèbre Prologue-Metamorphoses-Apogée-Epilogue. Witold Lutosławski. Dvorák: Symphony No. 9 From the New World - Christoph von Dohnányi, Cleveland Orchestra. Лента с персональными рекомендациями и музыкальными новинками, радио, подборки на любой вкус, удобное управление своей коллекцией. Christoph von Dohnányi served as conductor of the famed Cleveland Orchestra from 1984 to 2002 and the rapport between conductor and orchestra produced some of the finest orchestral playing in this country. This recording of the Shostakovich Symphony No. 10 paired with Witold Lutosl'awski's homage to Bartok, the Musique funèbre offer the reason for the magic of this combination of ensemble and conductor. The Shostakovich is rich in sonorities and in first desk playing and von Dohnányi's control over these mighty forces makes this an immensely intense recording. Shostakovich: Symphony in E minor, - 1. The Concertgebouworkest performs Shostakovichs Symphony No. 10 under the direction of Andris Nelsons. With his Symphony No. 10, Dmitri Shostakovich emerged from a particularly trying time. It was the first work that Shostakovich composed after the death of his tormentor Joseph Stalin on 5 March 1953. The Tenth Symphony allegedly is about Stalin and the years of Stalins regime. The Symphony No. 10 in E minor Op. 93 by Dmitri Shostakovich was premiered by the Leningrad Philharmonic Orchestra under Yevgeny Mravinsky on 17 December 1953, following the death of Joseph Stalin in March of that year. It is not clear when it was written: according to the composer's letters composition was between July and October 1953, but Tatiana Nikolayeva stated that it was completed in 1951. Sketches for some of the material date from 1946. Lutoslawski: Musique Funèbre Prologue-Metamorphoses-Apogée-Epilogue The Cleveland Orchestra Christoph von Dohnányi. Shostakovich:Symphony : Musique funèbre. Released on: this be Shostakovichs greatest symphony It was certainly one of his more immediately successful. Theres something to be said for the striking polish of Christoph von Dohnányis Cleveland Orchestra, less for the hit-and-miss immediacy of Georg Soltis Chicagoans. Of more recent advocates Mark Wigglesworth, a longstanding Shostakovich devotee whose vision of the work is among the bleakest, wrings exceptional results from the BBC National Orchestra of Wales.
