Derrick Morgan 27 March 1940 is a Jamaican ska, rocksteady and reggae singer. Born in Stewarton, in the parish of Clarendon, Jamaica, Derrick Morgan entered in 1957 the Vere Johns Opportunity Hour, a talent show held at the Palace Theatre in Kingston. He won with rousing impressions of Little Richard and, shortly after that, was recruited to perform around the island with the popular Jamaican comedy team Bim and Bam. I Don't Want to Go Home was the first album by seminal New Jersey rockR&B band Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes. The work helped establish the basis of the Jersey Shore sound. It was produced and arranged by manager Steven Van Zandt, who also sang, played guitar, wrote the title song, and elicited the contribution of two compositions by Bruce Springsteen, who also wrote the liner notes. Derrick Morgan's performance is so nuanced he envelopes all of these feelings and more. The sheer longing for home imbues the entire piece, but the singer further shrouds it with desperation, despair, resignation, and religious undertones. Overseen by Joe Gibbs, the song dates from the early reggae era, but the backing band works hard not to destroy the song's plaintive qualities. The rhythm is insistent but is beautifully counterpointed by Lynn Taitt's moody guitar solo. A stirring performance from all concerned. Appears On. Title: I Want to Go Home 1989. Before shooting I want to go home, if Resnais had thought of keeping somebody in mind, it is quite possible that he must have had ruminated about both American and French public. I want to go home shows why French fascinate Americans so much. It is a fairly honest portrayal of why French have all the respect for Americans. It is so hard to believe that this comic film was made by Resnais. Dead Fox 8. Nobody Really Cares If You Don't Go To The Party 9. Debbie Downer 10. Kim's Caravan 11. Boxing Day Blues.
